Doing better business through effective public consultation and disclosure : a good practice manual
Campbell, Jurgita
A critical component of the new social and development policy for investments and the procedural framework deals with the need for, and the benefits of, consultation with people affected by International Finance Corporation (IFC) projects. This Good Practice Manual seeks to address the need to identify project-affected people and to carry out meaningful culturally appropriate consultation with them. This manual is based upon practical experience from current IFC activities, and other examples of international good practice for public involvement and consultation in private sector projects. By working with the guidance provided in this manual, project sponsors will be able to meet IFC requirements since the manual explains the required format and sequence to be followed. Guidance is also given on how project sponsors may adapt and build upon prior work in order to meet IFC requirements.
