Mali - Rural Community Development Project : environmental management plan
AGRER
The aim of this study is to ensure that micro-projects under the Projet d'Appui aux Communautes Rurales (PACR) for Mali do no harm to either the environment or to stakeholders. It comes in response to the policies and laws of the World Bank and the government of Mali, which specify that a project must undertake environmental and social impact assessments, and, if some of its activities harm the natural and social environment, the project must carry out compensatory and mitigatory actions. Given its highly participatory approach, the nature of future micro-projects under the PACR is not fully known at the present stage of preparation, and as the micro-projects could be very diverse, this Environmental Management Framework (EMF) will be put in place to ensure that potential impacts are taken into consideration, and that an environmental and social management plan be put in place to mitigate these impacts. A global monitoring plan has also been elaborated to ensure that mitigation measures are carried out.
