The main purpose of this report is to provide a list of institutions involved in microfinance that have attained a certain level of outreach and longevity in Latin America. As a byproduct of forming such an inventory, basic data were collected to offer a snapshot view of some basic trends and features of these institutions. Data from microfinance institutions in Argentina, Belize, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Peru, Ururguay, and Venzuela are examined and aggregated in order to highlight regional trends and characteristics. This regional report is part of a worldwide inventory of microfinance institutions in developing countries completed in 1996.
