The objective of the Office National de l' Electricite (ONE) Support Project for Morocco is to increase the efficiency and reliability of electricity supply. This objective will be achieved through: (i) strengthening of the transmission and distribution infrastructure and supporting reductions in overall technical losses; (ii) support to Demand Side Management (DSM) programs to reduce electricity demand growth; (iii) promotion of wind generation; and (iv) assistance to ONE to adjust to a new market environment. There are six components to the project. The first component of the project is to reinforcement of the electricity transmission network to reduce bottlenecks and improve system's reliability. The second component of the project is to strengthening of the distribution system through the addition of substations. The third component of the project is to promotion of Compact Fluorescent Lamp (CFLs) as part of ONE'S DSM program. The fourth component of the project is to equipment in hardware and software of a trading desk. The fifth component of the project is to creation of a database of certified wind data. The sixth and the final component of the project is technical assistance.
