Korea - Vocational Schools Development Project
Colletta, Nat J. | Sutton, Margaret
Ratings for the Vocational Schools Development Project for Korea were as follows: outcomes were highly satisfactory, project sustainability was likely, Bank performance was highly satisfactory, and the Borrower performance was also highly satisfactory. Some lessons learned included: although the project was rated highly satisfactory, it should be noted that this project did not have an appropriate set of monitorable performance indicators. The project design was straight forward, including only policy work and the provision of equipment to the Vocational High School (VHS). The two project components (studies and equipment provision) were combined to encourage and support major reforms in a wide variety of areas including: curricula, teacher training, instructional methods, introduction of new technologies and course offerings, and better linkages with industry and enhanced student placement (better trained graduates and more relevant job placements).
