The effects of sowing date and plant population on the performance of chickpeas

Mid-December sowing gave the highest yields. The best population density was 33 plants per sq. meter planted in rows 30 cm apart. However, only ascochyta-blight resistant cultivars can be sown in mid-December. Non resistant cultivars must be sown in mid-March instead.
