Spanish; Castilian. Heliothis zea (Boddie) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) es considerada una plaga en cultivos como el maíz, tabaco, algodón y tomate. En Cuba aparece informada en nueve hospedantes, todos ellos de importancia agrícola. Esta especie fue encontrada en la Empresa de Flores de Güira de Melena alimentándose en las flores de Gerbera jamesoni Hart. Asteraceae, lo que constituye un nuevo hospedante para nuestro país.

Heliothis zea (Boddie) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) is known as a pest of crops such as maize, tobacco, cotton and tomato in Cuba, it appears reported on nine hosts, all of them agriculturally important. This species was found in the Flower Enterprise of Guira de Melena feeding on the flowers of Gerbera Jamesoni Hart, Asteraceae. It Is thus a new host in our country.
