The study was carried out during the months of November and December, 1987. The data are based on 128 pooled semen samples collected from four Barki rams. The effect of various diluents on the motility and livability of ram spermatozoa up to storage period of six days at 5 C was examined. Semen was diluted in six diluents, viz. egg yolk-citrate (YC), egg yolk-glycine (YG), egg yolk-citrate lactose (YCL), egg yolk-glycine lactose (YGL), egg yolk-citrate glycine (YCG) and egg yolk-citrate glycine lactose (YCGL). The semen samples were sealed, labelled and stored in the refrigerator at 5 C. Two ampoules of diluted semen were taken out from each diluent periodically at 0, 2, 4 and 6 days and examined for motility and live sperm percentage. Statistical analysis of data indicated that the values of (YCGL) were significant (P0.05) than those of YCG, YGL, YG, YC and YCL diluents up to six days of storage in respect of motility and live sperm percentage.
