Polar motion and cod (Gadus morhua) catches in the Arctic Ocean

We have correlated the orbital radius of polar motion and cod catches 4 and 5 years later in sub-areas I and IIb, to test a possible relationship between polar motion and the year class strength of Arctic cod. Correlation coefficients vary between 0.551 and 0.605 (P0.001), for a historical series from 1929 to 1982. It seems also that the best moment for a great cod year class is when the radius increases. It is supposed to explain this relationship that polar motion changes the dynamic of current crossing the North Atlantic Ocean and, as a consequence, the strength of the Norwegian Current
