Besufekad Tadese (Ethiopian Agricultural Research Organization, Addis Abeba (Ethiopia))
A field experiment was conducted at the division of Agronomy, Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi, during Kharif 2000 to study the effect of different weed management practices on Parthenium hysterophorus L. under sorghum ecosystem. The dominate weed flora present in the experimental field were Acrachne racemosa, Trianthema portulacastrum, Tribulus terrestris, Cyperus rotundus, Digera arvensis, Convolvulus arvensis, Dactylocternium aegyptium and Commelina benghalensis apart from Parthenium hysterophorus. However, Parthenium hysterophorus could hardly withstand competition from other weeds.
