STUDY ON SENSITIVITY OF IRRIGATION STRUCTURES
2009
Patamanska, G. (Institute of Melioration and Mechanization, Sofia (Bulgaria))
The impact of perturbation on the hydraulic behavior of an open-canal irrigation network can be assessed by determining the sensitivity of the irrigation structures, which regulate and distribute the water. In this the sensitivity of three widespread irrigation structures -gate, gate controlled orifice and weir - is analyzed using a theoretical approach. The analytic relationships are developed and on this base the governing factors influenced the sensitivity are identified. The sensitivity of the studied structures is quantified for certain water depth interval. The application of the sensitivity analysis for improving the precision of canal control is illustrated by examples.
