The quick development of the industry and of the agriculture and the increase of the social-economical development of the society is connected with the generation of great quantities of organic wastes. In connection with the shortage of electro-energy and for the implementation of the engagements from Kyoto-city for decrease of the emission of carbon dioxide with 8% until the year 2012, new sources of energy must be found. In the article are shown the suitable row materials for biogas production in the Republic of Bulgaria, which kind of bio-matter has the highest energy potential, what is the biogas, abilities for its utilization, policy and limitations for the production, etc. The studies are made and financed of the international project Promotion of Biogas in the East of Europe-mobilization of the leaders and courses for the farmers BIG-EAST from The EC, Intelligent Energy-Europe.
