The choice of substrate is a key factor affecting the production of standard-quality tomato transplants, ensuring precocity and high stable yields. In order to evaluate the effect of peat substrate nutrient regime on quality parameters of tomato transplants, an experiment was conducted at the FARMAKOM Concern, Sabac (Serbia), within the transplant production area of a gutter-connected plastic-covered greenhouse. The substrate mixtures used included pure natural peat supplemented with enriched zeolite. The strongest effect on the quality parameters of tomato transplants tested in this study was exhibited by natural peat 97.5% + twice-enriched zeolite 2.5%, whereas the non-enriched peat used in its pure natural state had the weakest effect.
