[Using morphologo-cultural differences of pea Rhizobia strains for estimation of their competitive ability]

The morphologo-cultural properties of Rhizobium leguminosarum isolated from soils of Bashkiria have been studied with the purpose to use some clearly expressed characters for estimation of the competitive ability of rhizobia. Various test media, prepared on the base of the modified synthetic yeast extract mannitol agar (YMA) have been selected: medium with triphenil tetrazolium chloride (TTC), medium with a Congo Red dye and medium with phosphine - 3R dye. The following characters of the colonies have been registered: gum, natural colour on the basic medium, the colour of the border and middle part on the media with TTC and dyes. The revealed morphologo-cultural differencies between the strains are supposed to use as markers for estimation of their competitive ability. The advantages of this method are the quickness of identification process and minimum of the preparatory work. The use of a replica plater and computer analysis promote the treatment of data base
