The effect of potatoes (Solarium tuberosum L.) and strawberries (Fragaria L.) colonization by a Pseudomonas aureofaciens BS1393 (VKM-B-2188 D) strain on plant growth and resistance to bacterial and fungal phytopathogens has been studied. The plant colonization with P. aureofaciens improved the plant physiological characteristics and their adaptation to the in vivo conditions. The occurrence of the Pseudomonas cells in various plant tissues (leaves, strung, roots) after a simultaneous colonization with two associative strains of P. aureofaciens BS1393 (VKM-B-2188 D) and Methylovorus mays BKM B-2221 was shown. The colonizated plants showed high resistance to the phytopathogens of Erwinia carotovora, Phytophthora infestans and Sclerotinia sclerotiorum. These results indicate a promising character of the practical application of P. aureofaciens to the microbial plant protection from phytopathogens.
