English. Theresults of long-term (done in 3 stages: in the period of 1992-1997, 2008-2011 and 2013-2015) field studiesare presented. The objects of these studies are the cropand weed components of corn agrophytocenosis, as well as the cross-spectrum herbicides of three groups: soil, postemergence with predominantly trans-laminar and combined mode of action combining trans-laminar activity with prolonged soil effect. The aim of the research is to identify the role of herbicides with different mode of action and inter-row treatment in combined schemes for controlling the weed infestationofcorn grown for grain in the forest steppe of Chelyabinsk region. During the research it has been revealed that the optimal technological schemes for the corn sowing tending include the use of cross-spectrum herbicides, mainly post-emergence, in combination with a minimal set of inter-row treatments. In this case, their multiplicity depends on the type of herbicide and the resource potential of an enterprise. When there is a shortage of working capital in the spring-summer period, a satisfactory result is achieved by successive implementation of three technological operations: herbicide application, inter-row cultivation and plants hilling to suppress weeds in protective zones. A shortage of labor resources makes the technological schemes preferable. They strengthen the chemical and decrease the mechanical loads on soil. The highest productivity in combination with maximum economic efficiency is ensured by the use of postemergence cross-spectrum herbicides with a screen action, against which the mechanical plant tending is reduced to one cultivation of inter-rows, and the total number of operations is reduced to two.
