The relation between the vegetative index NDVI and the chlorophyll content in winter wheat plants | Связь вегетационного индекса NDVI с содержанием хлорофилла в растениях озимой пшеницы

English. There has been analyzed the correlation between the relative content of green pigments in a biomass unit, in the unit area of the assimilation surface, as well as their gross quantity per 1 m2 of sowing and NDVI fields. The work was carried out in 2011–2014 in the Stavropol Krai on the fields of scientific and industrial crops. The vegetation NDVI index was obtained with the VEGA service. The chlorophyll content was determined by the method of Ya. I. Milayaeva and N. P. Primak. The correlation coefficient between the amount of chlorophyll per 1 m2 of winter wheat sowing and the vegetative NDVI index was 0.62, 0.25 and 0.39 in 2012, 2013 and 2014 respectively. The interrelation between the amount of chlorophyll per unit area of winter wheat and NDVI on average during the years of research is very weak (correlation coefficient is 0.42), and in individual fields it is extremely unstable, regardless of growing conditions. The analysis has shown that a stable link (feedback) is observed only in the case of the amount of chlorophyll per unit of biomass (mg/g), which is estimated as an average of ‒0.79. This says about a rather high degree of conjugation of NDVI to the amount of photosynthetic pigments in the organs of winter wheat plants. There is a fairly close relationship between the chlorophyll indexes of plants of winter wheat and NDVI of their crops during the period of grain filling (within 0.67–0.83). The negative values of the correlation coefficients obtained are explained by the fact that the maximum amount of chlorophyll in the plants of winter wheat is observed in the initial periods of growth and development, and then there is the so-called growth dilution, which is accompanied by a decrease in the amount of green pigments in a biomass unit, with the NDVI of crops growing. Between the relative content of chlorophyll in plants of winter wheat and the vegetative NDVI index there is a sufficiently high and stable feedback.

Проведен анализ корреляционной связи между относительным содержанием зеленых пигментов в единице биомассы, в единице площади ассимиляционной поверхности, а также валовым их количеством на 1 м2 посева и NDVI полей. Работу проводили в 2011–2014 гг. в Ставропольском крае на полях научно-производственных посевов. Вегетационный индекс NDVI получали с помощью сервиса "ВЕГА". Содержание хлорофилла определяли по методу Я. И. Милаевой и Н. П. Примак. Коэффициент корреляции между количеством хлорофилла на 1 м2 посева озимой пшеницы и вегетационного индекса NDVI составил 0,62; 0,25 и 0,39 в 2012, 2013 и 2014 гг. соответственно. Взаимосвязь между количеством хлорофилла на единице площади посева озимой пшеницы и NDVI в среднем за годы исследований очень слабая (коэффициент корреляции равен 0,42), а по отдельным полям крайне нестабильна, независимо от условий выращивания. Анализ показал, что устойчивая связь (обратная) наблюдается только в случае с количеством хлорофилла в единице биомассы (мг/г), которая в среднем оценивается величиной -0,79. Это говорит о достаточно высокой степени сопряжения NDVI с количеством фотосинтетических пигментов в органах растений озимой пшеницы. Проявляется довольно тесная взаимосвязь между хлорофилловыми показателями растений озимой пшеницы и NDVI их посевов в период налива зерна (в пределах 0,67–0,83). Отрицательные значения полученных коэффициентов корреляции объясняются тем, что максимальное количество хлорофилла в растениях озимой пшеницы отмечается в начальные периоды роста и развития, а далее наблюдается так называемое ростовое разбавление, которое сопровождается уменьшением количества зеленых пигментов в единице биомассы, при этом NDVI посевов возрастает. Между относительным содержанием хлорофилла в растениях озимой пшеницы и вегетационным индексом NDVI существует достаточно высокая и устойчивая обратная взаимосвязь.
