RUNNER - a new ROHM AND HAAS insecticide from the group MAC for the control of broad range of Lepidoptera pests

A group of insecticides M.A.C. (Moulting Accelerating Compounds) which control the pests with acceleration/induction of moulting of Lepidoptera, is the new group of insecticides disclosured by ROHM AND HAAS. The most known product is Mimic/Confirm (tebufenozide) and a little less known MACH 2 (halofenozide). The newest product from this group is on the basis of a.i. metoxiphenozide, with commercial name RUNNER. RUNNER is an insecticide with the extremely favourable ecotoxicological properties even better than the previous one tebufenozide. RUNNER has been registered in USA when last year it received registration by quick procedure for the use in cotton and pome fruit. By EPA opinion it is an interesting alternative to organophosphate products and inhibitors of insect development. RUNNER has been tested in our country the first time last year and showed extremely high efficacy at the control of Eupoecilia ambiguella, Lobesia botrana and Cydia molesta. RUNNER distinguishes from the previous product referring the washing off, rate, time of action and time of use flexibility. It is used for the control of Lepidoptera caterpillars of: Lobesia botrana and Eupoecilia ambiguella on vine plant, Cydia pomonella, Adoxophyes orana, Pandemis spp.,Cydia molesta, Anarsia lineatella, Cydia funebrana, Leucoptera scitella, Pierris brassicae and Agrotis spp. on cabbage and leaf vegetables. In the lecture, the properties, possibilities for the use and results of trials in Slovenia and abroad have been described.
