The aim of this presented work was to determine the presence of barley yellow dwarf viruses (BYDV-PAV, BYDV-MAV, BYDV-RMV and BYDV-SGV). Cereal Yyellow dwarf virus (CYDV-RPV) and wheat dwarf virus (WDV) in winter wheat, winter and spring barley fields in different localities in Turkey. Sample collections were taken in fifty-four winter wheat and fourteen winter and spring barley fields. Ten leaf samples were collected from each field. The cereal samples collected were assayed by DAS-ELISA for the presence of BYDV viruses, CYDV-RPV and WDV. The diagnostic materials used for BYDV viruses and Cereal yellow dwarf virus were made by Agdia inc. (USA), while those used for wheat dwarf virus were produced by Sanofi Pasteur Phyto-Diagnostics (France). BYDVs were present in twenty-four of the fifty-four tested fields of winter wheat and the degree of infection ranged from 3.3 to 20%. Among the BYDVs occurring in winter wheat the BYDV-PAV was the most prevalent, followed by BYDV-RMV. CYDV-RPV was detected in seven fields of winter wheat and its incidence varied from 5.71 to 40%. WDV was present in eleven of fifty-four tested fields. Its extent of infection ranged from 3.3 to 40%. BYDVs were present in seven of fourteen tested fields of winter and spring barley. Their incidence varied from 10 to 30%. Two BYDVs (BYDV-PAV, BYDV-RMV) occurred and the BYDV-PAV was dominant. CYDV-RPV occurred in one field with an incidence of 20%. WDV was present in five of fourteen fields, its incidence ranging from 3 to 25%.
