Production parameters progeny test of boars sire pigs breed imported in Slovakia

Transition to the system of aparative classification and evaluation of pig meat will makes heavy demands on the percentage of carcass loin. This paper evaluates fattening and carcass parameters import sire breeds in Slovakia. In sire populations the results of average daily weight gain were as follows: PN--830 g, YO--807 g and DU--712 g. As far carcass loin percentage are concerned the results are as follows: PN--60.59%, YO--59.65%, and DU--55.86%. The results in double breed combinations on the base of sire populations in slaughter parameters MLT PNxYO--59.8 square cm, YOxSM--57.20 square cm, PNxSM--54.70 square cm, DUxYO--53.30 square cm, PNxDU--52.60 square cm. As far carcass loin is concerned the results were as follows: PNxYO--60.09%, PNxSM--59.40%, YOxSM--57.43%, PNxDU--56,75%, DUxYO--56,65%. The results demonstrate that it is necessary to improve the selection of starting breeds as far as meat percentages in both sire populations.
