Comparative ethological study on cows of Bulgarian Rhodope cattle breed, reared under the conditions of plain regions: Pasture breeding

A study was carried out at the Agricultural University - Plovdiv on the behaviour of cows of the local mountainous breed Bulgarian Rhodope cattle (Jersey group) under pasture breeding in plain regions in spring and summer. The periods of observation during the two seasons were characterized by similar average day temperatures (23.6 and 25.9 deg C) and relative air humidity (53.2 and 54.6%) but they differed significantly by the day and night dynamics of the climatic parameters. The difference between the minimal and the maximal temperatures in the summer was 14.5 deg C and in the spring -- 29 deg C, and, the air humidity was 48% and 83%, respectively.
