Root pattern of coniferous tree cuttings inoculated with ectomycorrhizal fungi

The ability of ectomycorrhizal fungi to enhance rooting and/or mycorrhiza formation of coniferous cuttings by the addition of fungal inocula into the rooting substrate is demonstrated. The results are fungus and tree species related and depend most of all on the origin and age of ortets, physiological status of cuttings, growth conditions and the efficiency of introduced and indigenous fungi. In our experiments inoculation of Picea abies (L.) KARST. cuttings by ectomycorrhizal fungi was not effective on rooting percent, number and length of roots per cutting
