At the research-demonstrational object VDO Polana - Hukavsky grun grows mostly full-grown beech and spruce forest that is more than 90 years old. It was the reason to find out how the extreme precipitation affects progress of the forest for the last 100 years. This research area is located at the northeast part of Polana.
