Bareroot (BR) and container-grown (CG) seedlings of Norway spruce, Scots pine, European larch, European beach and Sicamore maple were planted in autumn 2008 and spring 2009. Roots of a half amount of seedlings were dipped into commercial fungal appliance Ectovit prior to planting in spring. 50 seedlings were planted for each tree species and seedling type in each of 3 treatments (Autumn, Spring, Spring+Ectovit) and 3 repetitions, 4,500 seedlings totally. 81% of CG and 75% of BR seedlings (most - 89% BR spruce, least - 59% BR pine ones) survived after the l st growing season. Planting time and Ectovit had no marked effect on survival, except of lower one of CG beach and spruce in autumn than in spring. The most extensive damage, caused by wildlife and weed control, was detected on both broadleaves; most dry leading shoots were occurred in beach. Besides beach, the higher height increments were observed in autumn than spring planting, effect of Ectovit was not obvious.
