Among seven rat species damaging rice crop on rice fields, the big and small field rats are usually observed and most destroyers. Rats are crowded from July to October, reproductive rapidly from March to October with an average number of 5-10 baby rats/batch. The most severe damage was observed at booting stage and damage in mua (June -November) crop is higher than that in spring crop. Use of crop traps (TC) and TC in combination with barrier screen trap (TSB) systems can be highly effective in controlling rat damages in rice field with early rice varieties which are with growth duration shorter than other large-scale grown varieties by 2-3 weeks
