Determining combining ability of some maize inbred lines applying topcross scheme
2002
Luong Van Vang | Nguyen Duy Nen | Vu Van Dung | Dao Hong Tham
Five maize inbred lines (L1, L2, L3, L4 and L5) were topcrossed with two testers, a single cross LVN10 (T1) and a pure line DF1 (T2) in Song Boi Maize Research and Seed Production Ceneter in 2001. The results indicated that maturity of the crosses between lines with T2 was later than with T1, exept for line L2. Inbred line as L5 was found to be a promissing one because of high GCA (8.98) and it gave a grain yield 6.7 tones/ha. The value of GCA in tester as an inbred line (1.127) was higher than that in tester as a single cross (-1.127).
