In Vietnam, maize was contaminated with mycotoxins in which aflatoxin was most dangerous toxic substance and contaminated with high content. Decontamination of mold and aflatoxin B1 was investigated in maize by treatment with NH3, NaOH, formaldehyde and Ca(OH)2 in small scale of 100 kg/bag. Those results showed that treatment with 2 NH3 and 6 percent NH3 had efficiency of mold decontamination were 100 percent and efficiency of aflatoxin B1 decontamination were 80 percent and 90 percent, respectively. Treatment with 2 percent NaOH had efficiency of mold and aflatoxin B1 decontamination were 90 percent, 75 percent, respectively. Treatment with 2 percent Ca(OH)2 had efficiency of mold and aflatoxin B1 decontamination were 88 percent, 90 percent, respectively. Efficiency of aflatoxin B1 decontamination was lowest, 60 percent when treated by formaldehyde. NH3 and Ca(OH)2 can be used effectively to reduce mold and aflatoxin B1 in maze
