Biological characteristics of Keteleeria Davidana Beissn in Kim Hy Natural preservative zone - Bac Kan province

Keteleeria davidiana Beissn, vernacular names: Du Sam, May Hinh, has following sizes: 20 - 25m tall, 0,6 - 0.8m in diameter, with straight bole, bark grey and longitudinally. Leaves 2,5 - 5cm long and 0.3 - 0.4cm wide. Fruit cylindrical 12 - 20cm long green when young and brow when old. Flowering in March to April, fruiting in October to December. In Northern Vietnam, Keeleeria mainly found in the Northwestrn one of two localities where this species is found is in Kim Hy, Na Ri, Bac Kan province. It is found in small groups of 3-5 trees intercalated in closed evergreen tropical seasonal submontane forests white limestone mountains at the elevation 600-700 amsl. Mainly associated with Pseudotsuga sinensis. Natural regeneration is endangered group. There are less than 100 mature individuals left.
