Haemophilus paragallinarum from infectious coryza chickens

Five flocks of broilers layers showed clinical manifestation of infections coryza. They were observed from December 1982-June 1983. The isolated organisms, Haemophilus spp. were cultured from infraorbital sinuses. They were identified as haemophilus paragallinarum according to the gfollowing characterisitcs: the organisms required only "V factor" for growth, conveted delta aminolaevulinic acid to protoporphyrin, negative to catalase test, pathogenic to 6 day old chicken embryo.
