Determination of iron, copper, zinc, mercury and lead in natural water in Chiang Mai Municipality by solvent extraction and absorption spectrophotometry
1985
Wasit Phaphun
The determination of iron, zinc, copper, lead and mercury in natural water samples collected from various sources in Chiang Mai municipality areas was analysed colorimetrically. In the initial step, the separation of iron, zinc, copper, lead and mercury from other metals in water sample was carried out with 1,10-phenanthroline, zincon, sodium diethyldithiocarbamate and dithizone, respectively. The analysis of iron, zinc, copper, lead and mercury using visible spectrophotometry ranged from 0.147-2.154; 0.277-1.179; 0.023-0.146; 0.018-0.044 and 0.006-0.012 ppm, respectively. Relative standard deviations of the analysis for iron, copper, lead, and mercury were 1.333; 3.558; 2.800; 5.773 and 1.568 percent, respectively, and the percentage recoveries were 100.50; 100.60; 106.45; 102.94 and 104.17 percent, respectively
