Sesame yield trials were conducted at Suwan Farm Research Station during the 1982 rainy season. There were seven black-seeded and three white-seeded cultivars replicated four times. Results showed that the white-seeded cultivar Sisaket gave the highest yield of 102.7 kg./rai. Of the black-seeded cultivars T 6022 and Gunabuti yielded 98.0 and 97.0 kg./rai, respectively. Local black-seeded cultivars Ayuthaya and Nakhon Sawan yielded 59.9 and 31.5 kg./rai, respectively. Forty collections were field grown for preliminary evaluation. They included 17 black-,16 white-, 6-brown-, and 1 red-seeded cultivars. Among the black-seeded Pb Til No.1 yielded the most (153.0 kg./rai), followed by Gunabuti (103.4 kg./rai). The top white-seeded yielder was TK-3(104.7 kg./rai). S.P.1168, a brown-seeded, gave 125.3 kg./rai and the red-seeded Kalasin 94.1 kg./rai. Pb Til No.1 and Kalasin had a short duration (75 days from planting) and most local black-seeded cultivars had long durations (about 115 days)
