Protein requirement of Khaki Campbell x native crossbred ducklings (0-4 weeks)

The experiment was conducted to compare effects of ration protein in Khaki Campbell x Native crossbred ducklings. Four rations were formulated at 21.5, 20.0, 18.5 and 17.5% crude protein with equal metabolizable energy at 2,800 Kcal./kg. 180 one-day old duckling were assigned randomly into 12 groups of 15 and then 3 groups were fed on each ration. Each group of ducklings was in 1.50 x 1.80 m 2. and fed ad libitum. The method of Completely Randomized Design was used to compare effects of rations and DMRT for mean comparisions. Ducklings fed 21.5% CP-ration showed the best weight gain (383.33 gm.) and FCR (1.547) during 0-2 weeks old. In the second period (2-4 weeks old), those from 17.0% CP-ration showed the best weight gain (411.11 gm) and 18.5 % CP-ration showed the best FCR (3.388). Date from the whole experiment (4 weeks) showed that 20.0 % CP-ration ducklings had the best weight gain (776.67 gm.) and 18.5 % CP-ration had the best FCR(2.60g). Data from PER., those from 17.0 % CP ratio showed the best results in the first 2-week period (3.31), the second 2-week period (1.65) and the whole experiment (2.13) The level of hematocrit and hemoglobin in each group was not different. Feed cost from 17.0 % CP. was the least (8.46 baht/bird) and dead bird had only came from 18.5 % CP. at rate of 2.22 % in the whole experiment.
