Twelve crossbred (Brahman x Native) heifers were randomly divided into 4 groups of three animals by Completely Randomized Design. They were fed with rice straw ad libitum and supplemented with concentrate rations at 1 percent body weight. The control ration was formulated by 45 percent of corn meal and others were substituted by sweet potato at 15, 30 and 45 percent of the ration. The result from 112-days experiment showed non significant (p 0.05) in average daily gain and feed intake among treatments. Average daily gain from the groups were 0.486, 0.410, 0.418 and 0.413 kg/head/day respectively. Increasing percentage of substitution of sweet potato in the rations tended to increase feed cost per kilogram and feed cost per one kilogram gained. Substitution of corn meal by sweet potato will be satisfied when corn meal is expensive and sweet potato is very cheap.
