Study of alternatives of economize fuel consumption and minimize air pollution from industrial process : tobacco curing

The research was to find the best furnace used in Tobacco Curing Industry in terms of economizing fuel consumption and minimizing air pollution generation. Four types of furnaces, STR 3 type, Multipurpose 2519 type, Improved Multipurpose 2527 type and Research Furnace 2527 type, were compared. The results showed that the Improved Multipurpose 2527 type consumed the least fuel, and generated the least SO2 which was 37.4 gm per ton of coal. It was suggested that the Improved Multipurpose 2527 type should be used to minimize energy and air pollution in terms of SO2.
