Factors effecting Thai-orchid export demand

The important factors affecting export demands for Thai orchid cut-flowers in the Federal Republic of Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, Japan and the United States were gross-domestic products, Thai orchid cut-flowers export price, price of substitute cut-flowers and seasonal dummy variable. The own-price elasticities of expot demand with respect to those countries were -0.1676, -0.3488, -0.5631, -2.2495 and -0.4536. The income elasticities of demand were 0.7934, 1.2081, 8.5053, 0.0929 and 4.0509, respectively. The main factors affecting export demands for Thai orchid plants in Japan, the Philippines and Singapore were gross domestic products, Thai orchid plants export price, export price of foliage plants of both Thailand and competitive countries, and seasonal dummy variables. The own-price elasticities of export demand for each country were -0.5451, -1.0844 and -0.7183, respectively. The income elasticities of export demand were 14.5537, 2.8389 and 2.1120, respectively.
