Study of Achlya sp. of fishes disease; in Ophiocephalus striatus

Five dead fishes of snake gead fish (Ophiocephalus striatus) from Bang Prama distric, Supanburi province, were introduced to the laboratory for exploring. Each of skin lesion the infected tissue were taking and examined under the microscope for positive fungal infection. The baiting technique was adopted for fungal isolation. The pure isolates were obtained and identified according to their specific characteristics to be genus Achlya, the only genus that was found in lesions. Saprolegnia sp. and other Genuses which has been recorded as a pathogenic form were not found to be involving in this event.
