Improvement of reproductive efficiency of swamp buffalo through artificial insemination

Use of AI in swamp buffalo for smallfarmers in rural areas is justified to improve its reproductive efficiency as well as to increase its genetic potential. Several research works in AI technique in the last decade are reviewed. For big buffalo population, estrous synchronization is suggested for use in AI program. About 24 hours after the onset of heat is recommended as an optimum time to inseminate.
