Comparative effects between White Gwow and estrogen were investigated by subjecting three groups of 5-day old Japanese quails to three different conditions. The quails of the first group were daily fed with food containing 10 % White Gwow (W/W) for a period of 60 days whilst those of the second group were each injected with 1 mg. estrogen every 10 days for the same period; those of the third group were fed with normal food and classified as the control group. The group previously fed with 10 % White Gwow (W/W) had body weight less than that of the group of estrogen whose body weight was still less than that of the control group. As for the effect to the length of the tibia, the group, fed with 10 % White Gwow had the tibia's length less than that of the estrogen group and that of the estrogen group was less than that of the control group. Apart form this, it was found that the concentration of calcium in the blood of the White Gwow group was higher than the concentration in the estrogen group and the control group.
