Study of the situation of subject matter specialists and extension agents in producing, selecting and using of A-V materials for agricultural extension, Department of agricultural extension in central provinces of Thailand

Provision and production of A-V materials; almost all of the SMS and FEA were obtained from both local and central office. FEA were self supporting in producing A-V materials while the higher level got financial support from the office. The criteria judgement for producing A-V materials, the FEA judged the mobility was important factor, while SMS considered the subject content was prominent. Most of the FEA and SMS at provincial offices produced flipcharts but the SMS at the regional office preferred to produce slide. The differences of production problems were occurred:FEA lacked of financial support to obtain materials, SMS in provincials levels lacked of time for production and SMS in regional level lacked of production skills. The selecting and using of A-V materials; both FEA and SMS were selecting and using A-V materials according to objective and also pre-planning for using. The A-V materials were made; especially for farmers and officials meetings which were used printed materials at a top priority. The provincial SMS used A-V materials in the mobile unit set and flip charts with high rating. Transparencies were the most frequently used by regional SMS for training A problem of provincial FEA and SMS in using of A-V materials was due to lack of A-V materials available fro selection. The regional SMS indicated their hardships because of inadequate equipments for using. The opinions concerned about the A-V material services of the Department of Agricultural Extension, most of the respondents considered that the A-V services of the Division of Agricultural Public Relations were limited, delayed and inappropriate when needed. The quality of available A-V materials did not meet the satisfactory standard and also the A-V materials were not enough.
