Chilli seed quality as affected by storage conditions

Four chilli seed lots were kept at room temperature or in refrigerator (7-12 deg.celsius) for six months. The seed lot which contained high vigor and germination percentage (91 % field emergence and 81 % germination) at room temperature, the vigor (59 % field emergence) and germination percentage (59 %) were not different from the seeds which were kept in the refrigerator. (56 % field emergence and 57.5 % germinations). But the vigor and germination percentage of the seed lot which contained the lowest seed quality (30 % field emergence and 19.5 % germination) were lower than the seed kept in refrigerator.
