Experiments on optimum stocking density of seabass (Lates calcarifer) were conducted in floating net-cages. The fish were stocked in floating net-cages at three stocking rates: 15, 25, and 35 fish/sq. meter and different sizes of fish (41,49+-11.65 gm., 46.51+-13.11 gm., 43.24+-10.25 gm., 42.23+-9.09 gm., 42.50+-11.13 gm., and 42.16+-8.46 cm.) were studied. Each net cage measured 2x2x1.0 m. and was made of polyethylene netting of 2.5 cm., mesh size. Fish production and Net-yield increased with stock density. The survival rates were not different. Fish at a stocking density of 35 fish/sq. meter showed highest production levels. Fish production, net-yield, mean (fish weight), survival rate and food conversion rate of fish at a stocking density of 35 fish/cage were 159.86 kg.; 153.93 kg.; 1141.79 gm.; 100.00 % and 5.49:1 respectively.
