Paraffin embedded specimens of 35 Aujeszky's disease cases in pig were examined with Avidin-biotin-complex (ABC) method to detect Aujeszky's disease viral antigen. Eighty percent of the cases (28/35) gave positive reaction. Aujeszky's disease viral antigen was detected in cerebrum (17/28), cerebellum (12/17), medulla oblongata (7/8), spinal cord (4/4) and tonsils (5/11). ABC method is a sensitive, reliable and rather simple technique to diagnose Aujeszky's disease on paraffin embedded tissue section.
