Effect of kinetin, NAA and GA3 in vitro propagation of Curcuma roscoeana Wall.

In vitro propagation of Curcuma roscoeana Wall., by cutting in vitro-grown plantlets having only base of plantlets 10 mm in size, dividing longitudinally in half and cultured in liquid Murashige and Skoog (1962) medium + kinetin 0-8.0 mg/l and NAA 0 and 0.05 mg/l. The optimal concentrations of kinetin without NAA was between 0-1.0 mg/l providing 2.5-3.1 new healthy plantlet/cultured explants. GA3 was not essential for culturing C. roscoeana Wall. It showed adverse effect on reducing shootlet and root quality. The plantlets showed thin stems, pale green and thin curled leaves, roots are brown and short.
