Evaluation on the Utilization of Aquatic Plants in Songkla Lake Project was undertaken to determine the effects of the project on the community and explore the socio-economic conditions that may help provide the means for improving the livelihood of the people in the community regarding aquaculture production. In this evaluation, 77 sample households at Thale Noi community were interviewed by using purposive sampling technique. The project is useful in terms of (1) the promotion of public awareness of aquaculture (2) providing a useful source of aquaculture knowledge and (3) making use of local resources. The aquatic plant mixture developed by the project is suitable for herbivorous fish and the cost is low compared with that of concentrated feed. In the future it is likely that aquaculture will play an important role in improving the livelihood of the people at Thale Noi community. Carnivorous fish, especially catfish, have a high potential for generating household income while herbivorous fish are suitable for household consumption
