Comparative study on the structure of coral reef fish communities along the east coast of Thailand was conducted from June 1990 to February 1991 by using Fish Visual Census method. Fifty-eight species of 30 genera and 24 families were found and subsequently divided into three main groups: Target species, Indicator species and major family. The most dominant species in the Target Spicies Group was Cephalopholis pachycentron, while Chaetodon octofasciatus was the most dominant in the Indicator Species Group and Pomacentridae and Labradae were the most dominant in the Major Families Group. Community structure of coral reef fish could be divided into three main groups responding to geographical area. They were Pattaya, Rayong and Samaesarn.
