Mungbean plots sprayed with all neem seed kernel extracts tested have significantly fewer damaged plants than those of the control. Insecticide treated plot has the lowest damaged plants. The 10 percent aqueous neem seed kernel extract gave better beanfly control than all 5 percent neem seed kernel extracts tested at Chai Nat FCRC. Percentage of damaged plants in mungbean plots sprayed with all neem seed kernel extracts were between 31-53 percent while mungbean plot sprayed with monocrotophos and control plot were 24-27 percent and 82-86 percent respectively. At Chiang Mai FCRC, however, percentage of damaged plants in mungbean plots sprayed with all neem seed kernel extracts tested were between 52-79 percent while mungbean plot sprayed with monocrotophos and control plot were 28-53 percent and 90 percent respectively. The efficacy of neem seed kernel extracts for control of beanflies in the field is variable. One of the factors that impede its efficacy is the leaching of the extracts from the plants by rain which reduces the repellent effect to the adult flies locating on the plants.
