Survey on planting of multiple cropping was conducted in the North and Central plains of Thailand. It was observed that the farmers would like to prepare the soil for plantation by 2 methods. In the first method, the farmers will get primary tillage done by contractors and the secondary tillage will be done by using their own walking tractor or small four wheel tractors. In the second method, the farmers will do both of the primary and secondary tillage operations with the use of contractor. The main crops grown are maize, soybean, mungbean. Some farmers grow onions and they have to prepare good seedbed for onion plantation. They will do it by themself with the use of hoes. Performance test of rotary tiller and turn wrest plough was done by using a power tiller. The tests were conducted with the use of both rubber tyre and iron wheel. It was observed that the implements worked well when the power tiller was run at gear position of 1st low and 2nd low. The forward speed in these gear was 0.3-0.5 m/s. Soil preparation plantation was also studied. The primary tillage was done by using a rotary tiller. Secondary tillage and ridges were formed at the same time by using rotary tiller and ridger. This practice is found to be convinient to farmers.
