Study on feasibility of Gomphrena globosa var. strawberry to be cut flower in vase

Study was conducted at Rajamangala Institute of Technology Phitsanulok Campus from September to November 1992. Two variety of Gomphrena; strawberry and local were compared and data was analysed by t-test method. The study found that while plant height of the local variety was greater than that of the strawberry variety, the stem length was shorter. Stem length of the strawberry and local varieties measured 25 and 18 cm, respectively. Stems of strawberry variety are stronger than those of the local variety. The flower form of the strawberry variety is head shaped, with more flowers than local variety. The flower form is quite long. The strawberry variety produced 18 flowers per plant, while the local variety produced 13 flowers per plant. Vase life is 11 days in both varieties.
