Preliminary study on using newspaper in wooden tray as plastic bag for cutting

This preliminary study was conducted to examine possibility of using newspaper in wooden tray as plastic bag for balsam stem cutting. Newspaper was designed as honey-comb in 6*6 cm and 15 cm height for each cell, number of 24 cells could be fill in a wooden tray. The Completely Randomized Design with 6 replications was used to compare those 2 treatments. The results showed that there were not significant in number of the first days inspected root, number of transplanting days, percentage of rooting and number of lateral rot. The number of root hair, root distribution and volume of root were significant. After transplanting in pot for 2 months the plants size were not significant. Using newspaper in wooden tray as plastic bag for cutting was possible.
