In vitro study of the activity of lincomycin on Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae and Pasteurella multocida: Use of LINCOCINE sterile solution in fatteners
1994
Flaus, L. | Isarankura, S. (Laboratoires Upjohn S.A.R.L., Paris (France))
Objective of this study was to determine exactly the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of lincomycin, in vitro, against 10 field strains of porcine Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae (App.) and 10 field strains of Pasteurella multocida (Pm.), secondary bacteria commonly associated with enzootic pneumonia caused by Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae. For 70 percent of App. Isolates and 30 percent of Pm. isolates, MIC values are below the lung concentration of Lincomycin, 12.5 micro g/g, when injected at 10 mg/kg. The mean MIC of lincomycin for App. is 11.2 micro g/ml and 14.6 micro g/ml for Pm.
